The archipelago of the forgotten

“For perhaps we are like stones; our own history and the history of the world embedded in us, we hold a sorrow deep within and cannot weep until that history is sung.”

Susan Griffin, A Chorus of Stones, The Private Life of War, 1992.

Initially a reflection on islands and insularity, The archipelago of the forgotten has evolved into an exploration of my relationship with different forms of domination, through the forgotten biographies of three women who lived on the French islands of Saint-Paul, Tromelin and Clipperton, legacy of the French colonial empire.

This research resulted into a multidisciplinary project combining videos, a photo book and prints.
